Ami Nashimoto (梨本阿美)

Ami Nashimoto is a San Francisco native who has been playing music since she was a child. Ami graduated from San Francisco School of the Arts and has received her Bachelors of Music in cello performance from the University of California Santa Barbara, where she not only studied western classical music but also studied music composition, electronic music, and North Indian Classical music.

Ami is always searching to expand her musical knowledge and this drive has given her the skills to play many instruments including piano, ukulele, accordion, sitar, tabla, and carillon. She utilizes her vast musical knowledge when teaching to give her students a strong technical foundation which allows the student to play expressively and beautifully.

Ami is not only a wonderful teacher of cello and piano but is also a great performer and plays shows regularly throughout the Bay Area. She currently plays in quite a few projects including All My Pretty Ones, the Bay Area Rainbow Symphony, and several chamber ensembles.
