Antoniy Kakamakov was born in 1985 in a family of professional violinists. He began studying the guitar at the age of ten with Milena Valtcheva, in his native country of Bulgaria. At the age of 13 he had already won first prizes in the junior divisions of the International Classical Guitar Competitions in Sinaia - Romania, Kraiova - Romania and Assenovgrad - Bulgaria. In 1999, he was awarded full scholarship to study guitar at the prestigious Idyllwild Arts Academy, where his teachers were Terry Graves and Michael Kudirka. After finishing high-school, Antoniy attended the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and received his Bachelors, Masters and Professional Study Diploma under the tutelage of Sergio Assad and David Tanenbaum. Antoniy is the winner of the Sierra Nevada Guitar Competition and the Wesley Day Solo Classical Guitar Recording Competition. He was awarded second place in the SFCM Concerto Competition and is a prize winner in the Portland Guitar Festival and Competition. 

Antoniy is an active performer throughout the USA and Europe. He has appeared in concerts at such festivals as Guitar Foundation of America and La Guitarra California. Antoniy has given masterclasses at San Francisco City College, Humboldt State University, Colombia College, Modesto Junior College, UC Santa Cruz, Cal State University East Bay and Cal State Fullerton. Antoniy performs with the Pacific Guitar Ensemble, the Silver and String duo with his flutist Tracy Goodwin, and the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra. Antoniy Kakamakov offers lessons in both classical and acoustic guitar from beginner to professional levels.
