Native San Franciscan and mezzo-soprano, Elisabeth Fortescue-Hall, received her Bachelors of Music (BM) for Vocal Performance from the esteemed UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music. She graduated from the Vocal Department at the High School, Ruth Asawa San Francisco School Of The Arts, and studied voice with the Bay Area Vocal Academy (BAVA). Elisabeth took voice lessons at Inspire Music with Victor Cervantes from 2006-2018, and joined her first choral ensemble in 2008, Hip Kids Chorus.
Elisabeth has spent over a decade studying voice, during which she has sung in many different styles including Opera/Classical, Baroque, Musical Theater, Jazz and Pop. Elisabeth has performed with esteemed ensembles such as Seraphic Fire, Tesserae Baroque, Fort Worth Symphony, San Francisco Opera Chorus and Gluck Vocal Jazz Ensemble. Currently, Elisabeth teaches Music at the Ruth Asawa San Francisco School of the Arts as an Artist in Residence for the Vocal and Theater Departments.
As a voice teacher, Elisabeth emphasizes developing healthy vocal habits and body awareness when singing as well as creating room for the musical exploration of young singers. She has a patient and positive approach to teaching, taking time to explain concepts and lead by example.
As a piano teacher, Elisabeth follows the Faber piano books, utilizing basic music theory and repetition as a means of learning new concepts. She has a patient and positive approach to teaching, taking time to explain concepts and lead by example.
